Official Presidential Translator

President Obama - Official Portrait

The presidential campaign of 2012 has begun. The rhetoric of President Obama, though an incredible speaker, needs to but does not yet have an official translator we can fully understand.

So today, without official White House authorization, I appoint myself as Official Presidential Translator.

I’ve taken upon myself the awesome responsibility of that mantle to periodically interpret what the President says during the campaign to put it into terms we common folk can understand.

For example, today I translate an email I got directly from the hand of the President himself. It came from “Obama for America“(2012)… formerly “Organize for America”(2009-2011)… formerly “Obama for President”(2008).

The Email

We’re closing the books on the first fundraising quarter of the 2012 race at midnight tomorrow.

A lot of folks will be interpreting our numbers as a measure of this campaign’s support.

They’re not wrong, but they are wrong about why.

We measure our success not in dollars but in people — in the number of everyday Americans who’ve chosen to give whatever they can afford because they know we’ve got more work to do.

I’m asking you to be one of them. Please donate $5 or more before midnight tonight:
Thank you,

P.S. — Your gift automatically enters you to join the Vice President and me for dinner. We’d love to meet you. Please donate here:

Official Presidential Translation

I didn’t make my $$ goal for the first big Federal Elections Commission reporting period, but I got zillions of tiny donations with my “Dinner with the President” promotion. – Barack Obama
