Mother Nature decided to spice up the summer solstice back on June 21st by showing off this M2-class solar flare spouting from sunspot AR1777.

The video shows a bright extreme ultraviolet flash followed by streaming material flying outward. It was captured by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory.

Enjoy solar flares and spectacular Earth auroras while you can. The sun is headed into a long period of inactivity after this current solar cycle.
